Councillor Emma Leighton-Jones

Emma plays in a samba band, amongst many other hobbies; she is an active member of the local community and is a part time safeguarding trainer. She is also a local councillor.

“I stood for office in order to make a difference to my community. I have never been a member of a political party and never thought of myself as particularly political but realised that I wanted to have a voice and be heard, to make a difference. After much thinking I stood for election in 2017 as an independent. It was a steep learning curve, but I feel that I have managed to influence change where I thought it was needed. I would definitely recommend being a councillor to anyone. It is hard work but absolutely worth it."

Emma is a Cabinet Member for Modernisation.
